The Lucifer season three finale saw Chloe Decker (played by Lauren German) see Lucifer’s (Tom Ellis) face for the first time.
Following the cliffhanger, fans are no doubt desperate to find out what will happen next.
And despite the news that FOX has cancelled the series after just three seasons, bosses have revealed what a fourth run would include.
Show runner Joe Henderson has also explained that season three was kept open-ended on purpose.
He dished: “We knew we were fighting for our lives, so we created a season finale that demanded our return.
“Set up exciting new character dynamics that you couldn’t wait to see come to life next season.
“We were still pretty confident on renewal, so we wanted to push things over the edge and make it impossible to cancel us. Oops.”
Reflecting on Lucifer’s reveal to Chloe, Joe went on to note how that would have been explored in season four.
“That was the big thrust of season four,” he told Deadline.
“Exploring Chloe dealing with those ramifications, and how it affected her relationship with Lucifer.
“Both professionally and personally.
“Can you work with the devil? Can you love the devil?”
Furthermore, his co-showrunner Ildy Modorovich revealed they had plans to bring in a character from Lucifer’s past.
“We also had an exciting character from Lucifer’s past who was going to come in and mix everything up,” he explained.
“A very personal, intimate figure who we won’t reveal the identity of yet… until we find out if we get the chance to tell the tale on a new network.”
It comes after actor Tom dropped a big hint that the series will be saved.
He told TV Insider: “Talks are happening.
“It’s not going to be an instantaneous thing like Brooklyn Nine-Nine was.
“It’s worth reiterating that to the fans. But we’re not giving up.”
Lucifer seasons 1-3 is available to watch on Amazon Prime.
